The Ho Quoc Pagoda (also known as Chua Ho Quoc or Truc Lam Ho Quoc) is a new Buddhist temple on Phu Quoc Island that was inaugurated on December 14, 2012. It is perched at the base of a lush mountain that faces the sea and the rising sun.
Ho Quoc Pagoda is the ideal point of tourists every occasion to visit the emerald island. Ho Quoc Pagoda is 18kms from Duong Dong Town and located in Suoi Lon hamlet in Duong To Village. The temple is situated along the eastern coast overlooking the Gulf of Thailand and just north of Sao Beach.
What To See
Temple relics: This temple has various Buddha statues, statue of the “Goddess of Mercy”, and a giant bell.
Sunrise: Get here around 5:30am and watch the sun rise from behind mainland Vietnam. Ho Quoc Pagoda is one of the best places to watch the sunrise in Phu Quoc.
Monkeys: Behind the temple complex is a very lush mountain rich with wildlife. If you are lucky you may see macaques
What to Do
Dam Beach: One of the best unspoiled beaches in Phu Quoc is located here. Go for a swim or simply explore the uninhabited stretch of sand. The access point to the beach is not yet defined, so you must simple walk down the hill to the beach.
How To Get There
From Duong Dong Town head south on National Highway 46 towards Bai Sao Beach, Khem Beach, and An Thoi Town. When you reach the Phu Son Ha Noi Resort, make a left. This side road that takes you to the Phu Son Ha Noi bungalows. Travel down this road for about 2kms and you will reach Ho Quoc Pagoda. Parking is free at the base of the pagoda.
